ACE Winches Supports Subsea Sector and Engineers Diver Service Module Package for Subsea 7
28th January 2016Leading global deck machinery specialist, ACE Winches will be showcasing how it is addressing clients’ needs to deliver cost effective solutions at Subsea Expo next month.
The company recently won a contract as a result of providing a cost-effective solution to engineer, manufacture and build a Diver Service Module package for Subsea 7’s new dive support vessel, Seven Kestrel.
Exhibiting at stand 199, ACE Winches will be showcasing its extensive range of manufactured products and services offering, including equipment hire, bespoke solution design, project management, installation, subsea, renewables and decommissioning operations.
ACE Winches supplied Subsea 7, a global leader in seabed-to-surface engineering, construction and services, with the complete solution: a standalone package that provides easy but safe operations, enables minimal downtime and simplified problem solving if an equipment fault was to occur.
The Diver Service Module, which has been built to DNV standards, will be permanently installed on the Seven Kestrel, a highly capable diving support vessel.
Alfie Cheyne, ACE Winches’ CEO said: “It is important that we listen to our client’s issues and work with them to provide a solution that is more efficient while adhering to safe practices.”
The Diver Service Module package consists of two five tonne SWL hydraulic drum winches, three two tonne hydraulic reelers, 130kilowatt hydraulic power unit, two nine tonne SWL hydraulic A-frames, central console station, two hydraulic power blocks, two winch sheaves and three reeler sheaves.
The ACE hydraulic drum winches are designed for deploying tooling baskets over the A-frame to subsea for support during diver operations.
The ACE hydraulic reelers included in the package were designed in such a way that the drums are universal, able to accommodate various diameter hoses for different applications. This can include hydraulic, water and pneumatic supply to subsea in support of diver operations. The universal drums are a more cost effective solution for the client, to maximise the use of the equipment on-board and reduce the requirement for additional equipment to suit certain applications.
Hydraulic controls for all equipment are situated in one location. All drum and A-frame locking pins are electrically interlocked back to the E-stop system to ensure safe operations. The overall structure of the module has been designed to accommodate a crane with a lifting capacity of 1.5 tonne SWL at 20 metre radius.
Mr Cheyne continued: “We provide clients with a comprehensive range of specialist services, support and deck machinery equipment to the energy industry working offshore, subsea and onshore. ACE Winches has a number of new products and innovations in the subsea sector including Reel Drive Systems, Track Tensioners and Umbilical Reelers. We welcome the opportunity to exhibit our capabilities close to home at Subsea Expo.”
ACE Winches is a complete solution provider, serving industry market sectors including IWOCS (intervention work over control systems), and total back deck solutions for subsea projects and SURF (subsea umbilical risers and flowlines) contracting vessels.
