ACE Winches design, engineer and manufacture a Diver Service Module for Subsea 7

ACE Winches supplied the client with the complete solution: a standalone package that would provide easy but safe operations, enable minimal downtime and simplified problem solving if an equipment fault was to occur.  

The Diver Service Module consists of two 5te SWL hydraulic drum winches, three 2te hydraulic reelers, 130kW hydraulic power unit, two 9te SWL hydraulic A-frames, central console station, two hydraulic power blocks, two winch sheaves and three reeler sheaves.

The ACE hydraulic drum winches are designed for deploying tooling baskets over the A-frame to subsea for support during diver operations.

The ACE hydraulic reelers included in the package were designed in such a way that the drums are able to accommodate various diameter hoses for different applications.  This can include hydraulic, water and pneumatic supply to subsea in support of diver operations.  One of the key benefits of this package is making these drums universal.  This means it is a more cost effective solution for the client while also maximising the use of the equipment on-board as there is no requirement for additional equipment to suit certain applications.

Hydraulic controls for all equipment are situated in one location.  All drum and A-frame locking pins are electrically interlocked back to the E-stop system to ensure safe operations. The overall structure of the module has been designed to accommodate a crane with a lifting capacity of 1.5te SWL at 20m radius.
