ACE 4-Track Tensioner Package for Ichthys LNG project

ACE Winches supplied McDermotts an ACE 50te SWL 4-Track Tensioner package for the support in laying 49 kilometers of umbilicals for the Ichthys LNG project.

The umbilicals spread across a 400 square kilometer area of the Itchthys field, in the Browse Basin, about 220 kilometers offshore Western Australia. The umbilical ranged from 114mm ø to 179mm ø in both 2 and 4 track modes.

The ACE 50te SWL 4-Track Tensioner includes a caterpillar track system for hauling or veering cable, umbilical, steel pipe or similar round tubular products. 

The unit is designed for horizontal deployment.  Enclosed within a lift frame the tensioner operates by gripping the product between four track carriages where the track links are fitted with “V” shaped pads. Included are two sets of different sized pads. Each track is driven by hydraulic motor / gearbox drive assemblies to haul or veer the product.
