Craft Apprenticeships
Individuals on our Craft Apprenticeship have the opportunity to work in the following areas:
- Electrical
- Fabrication and Welding
- Hydraulics
- Machining
- Mechanical
To apply for the Craft Apprenticeship, you should have, or be expecting to achieve, strong academic grades at National 4 or above, in subjects including English, Maths and Science.
At the end of the four-year apprenticeship, you will have achieved and gained:
- PEO qualification,
- NC or HNC,
- Core Skills, and
- SVQ Level 3.
GRADUATE Apprenticeships
Graduate Apprenticeships are an innovative route to a degree qualification, blending academic study with work-based learning. A graduate apprenticeship would allow you to work while earning a degree over the course of up to four years at Robert Gordon University.
ACE Winches have previously enrolled employees into the following Graduate Apprenticeships:
- Graduate Apprenticeship in BEng (Hons) Engineering: Design & Manufacture
- Graduate Apprenticeship in BEng (Hons) Engineering: Instrumentation, Measurement & Control
- Graduate Apprenticeship in BA (Hons) Business Management
RGU use a blended learning approach supported by Virtual Learning Environment, with online lectures, discussion forums and access to course materials. This is complemented by on-campus sessions at RGU in Aberdeen to exchange ideas with peer group and tutors.
RGU will support participants with structured learning and reflective practice, while company mentors will help you to apply theory to workplace reality. Assessments can link to your role at ACE, typically via portfolios or projects you work on.
Entry requirements for Graduate Apprenticeships depending on the chosen route. As general guidance, we would expect candidates to have achieved, or be expected to achieve, 4 x B at Higher level in relevant subjects.
Business Modern Apprenticeships
Our Business Administration Apprentices will have the opportunity to rotate through several departments across the business over a four-year period, that could include:
- Projects
- Hire Personnel
- Proposals
- Sales
- Marketing
- Procurement
- Engineering
- HSEQ
- Workshops
To apply for the Business Modern Apprenticeship you should have, or expect to achieve, strong academic grades at National 4 or above, in subjects including English, Maths and Business Studies.
At the end of the four-year apprenticeship, you will have achieved and gained a qualification in Business Administration at SCQF level 5, 6 or 8 and your ECDL. You will be allocated protected learning time to support your college studies, as well as a workplace assessor is assigned to each apprentice on registering for the programme and will make regular visits to your company to carry out assessments and discuss and monitor progress. . On average, your qualification can be completed within 18-24 months.
