Structural Engineer

The role of Structural Engineer will be based at our ACE Winches facility in Turriff, with impressive state-of-the-art facilities all powered by wind.

ACE Winches is now part of Ashtead Technology. Together we continue to strengthen our product and service offerings for oil & gas and offshore renewables.

What you’ll be doing;

You’ll join our Engineering team as a Structural Engineer. While the wider team will engineer our winches, you will be responsible for designing the structures that keep our winches steady, adapting them to the structure of any and all vessels!  You will be the SME and focal point for all structural related guidance and activity.

Day to day you’ll be involved in;

  • Interpreting client needs and generating suitable structural designs, providing advice and guidance for the best way forward.
  • Conducting structural analysis using STAAD Pro or similar package.
  • Generating, checking and revising Engineering documentation as required.
  • Proactively leading design reviews, generating and issuing minutes and closing out action points.

What experience will help you be successful in this role?

  • You have in-depth knowledge of DNV standards relevant to marine structure design and operations (essential)
  • You will hold a degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering.
  • You will have experience in the design of supporting structures for use with various types of machinery.
  • You have extensive knowledge of structural codes and standards.
  • We use Autodesk Inventor, but we are open to applicants who have experience in SolidWorks or similar package(s).
