ACE Winches anchored in charity for 20for20 campaign

4th July 2017

Leading global deck machinery specialist, ACE Winches, is delighted to announce its support for the charity Friends of ANCHOR.  As part of the charity’s 20for20 campaign, ACE Winches has sponsored an anchor which was recently unveiled at the Bon Accord Centre, Aberdeen.

This year, Friends of ANCHOR is celebrating 20 years of providing support to cancer and haematology patients throughout North East Scotland. As part of this milestone anniversary, the charity has launched its biggest fundraising appeal by pledging £1 million to the University of Aberdeen’s ambitious £4.5 million project to attract and recruit a world-class cancer research team.  This investment will ultimately have a significant impact on the care, treatment and wellbeing provided local cancer and haematology patients.

The charity has been working in partnership with local artists and creatives to create 20 large anchor sculptures that are now on public display across Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen itself.  ACE Winches was thrilled to sponsor one of the anchors, which is on display at the Bon Accord Centre in Aberdeen until the end of October, after which it will be auctioned.

The 20for20 anchor auction celebrates the conclusion of the voyage and the tremendous work undertaken by local artists, and will give individuals and companies an opportunity to own one of these remarkable sculptures.

Valerie Cheyne, Chief Compliance Officer, ACE Winches said: “ACE Winches is pleased to sponsor a 20for20 anchor to help raise funds to support Aberdeen in becoming a centre for world-class cancer research. We delighted to be able to offer our support for Friends of ANCHOR’s as it fulfils its pledge to raise £1 million towards this worthy project.”
